Volunteer!

Do you love dogs? Are you looking for adventure? Do you dream of traveling to Nepal? Well, we have a way for you to experience all of this an more!

Come and volunteer at Sneha's Care for a day, for a week, for a month!

Sneha’s Care is a locally registered charity in Nepal (Reg number 142068/072/073). The charity was founded in 2015 by Sneha Shrestha to assist as many street dogs in Kathmandu as possible.

According to the current government assessment, there are around 30,000 dogs living on the streets of Kathmandu alone. The figure for the whole of Nepal is unknown. Many of those dogs are mistreated, thrown away on the streets by their owners, victims of a variety of diseases. In general, the Nepalese public are scared of street dogs even though there have been hardly any cases of the dogs attacking people. Lack of education is a major problem and we have witnessed many children and adults torturing puppies for no reason at all. Throughout our work we have noticed a massive need for outreach campaigns where we can help the dogs while at the same time educate the community.

The objective of Sneha's Care is to find adoptive families, rescue injured dogs, spay/neuter, mass vaccination campaigns for rabies, treat street dogs for minor and serious injury an skin diseases as well as provide permanent shelter for handicapped dogs.

Our mission is to rescue and provide immediate care to those dogs that have been mistreated and have no other place to turn to and to link them with responsible adoptive families.

WHY WE NEED VOLUNTEERS?

As we are running the shelter with limited employees and the number of rescued dogs has been increasing every day, ( we also fund the shelter employees ourselves), we need volunteers to help us with our daily work so that more injured dogs can be treated and get a new life.

WHAT VOLUNTEERS WILL BE DOING WHILE WORKING WITH US?

We have a big space and a walking area where our dogs can be taken for walks. All the dogs in the shelter must go on the walks so they can become familiar with a collar and a leash. they might also bored in the shelter and we find that exercise and time out of the shelter makes the dogs happier. Volunteers will be taking the dogs for walks and spending time leash training them.

Volunteers will be washing & grooming the dogs so that they will look their best when potential   come looking to adopt one of our dogs...... the more dogs adopted out of the shelter to forever homes, the more room we will have for other street dogs who need our care.

As we have limited employees working full-time,  volunteers will be helping the employees in the shelter to clean the shelter every 3 hours and make sure that the shelter is neat , clean and disease free.

We have 80-100 dogs in  the shelter at moment and feeding them all at once is a challenging job. Volunteers are responsible to help the shelter staff at feeding time..... two times a day.

Volunteers who have skill in rescuing dogs, will be sent with the Ambulance everyday with our team to assist in picking up injured dogs from the street.

Veterinary students and Veterinarians are needed to can assist our Veterinary staff with surgery, spaying/neuter, dressing of wounds, skin treatments and all other treatments for various ailments in the clinic in shelter. Veterinarians and Vet Techs contact us directly at nepalstreetanimalrescue@yahoo.com to discuss cost per week waivers in exchange for Veterinarian services.

Volunteers who are good in teaching will be sent to the schools and community for humane animal education.
